Vision Board Mid-Year Check In
Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? Have you taken a moment to stop and reflect on your year so far?
Now is the perfect time for a mid-year vision board check-in. Whether you’ve created a vision board or simply set intentions for the year, now is your chance to reflect, refocus, and realign your goals. Read on and we can do this together...
Back in January, I set my intentions for 2025 and shared them with you in the post Creating a Vision Board. My goals are reflected in a collage style vision board, perched on the chest of drawers in my bedroom. I promised myself I would do a mid-year vision board check-in. And the time has come!
Now, I’m going to let you into a little secret: I’ve just brought my vision board downstairs for some mid year goal setting and as I carried it down, my eyes were drawn to all the things I haven’t done yet. It was very tempting to run back upstairs with it and write about something else for this week! Or at least remove the image of the lady running!
But then I caught myself. This is exactly the point of a mid-year check-in. Not to judge, but to notice. Not to give up, but to get clear. There are still six months - half the year - left. That gives me plenty of time to refocus on get to work on the goals I’ve still to address.
Off to a Flying Start
As many of us do, I got off to a flying start in January. My vision board was fresh in my mind and displayed in my bedroom, there to greet me every morning. Full of intent and powered by motivation, healthy eating and exercise regimes were kick-started, trips booked, finances organised.

As I scrutinise my collage board depicting what I want in life, it does feel like progress has slowed a little so I’m grateful for this opportunity to evaluate and plan how I need to move some aspects of my life along.
Planning for the Unexpected
Experience has taught me that it would be a bit delusional to think that we can plan for everything in the year ahead. As I sat at my dining room table creating my vision board at the turn of the year, I was all too aware that making plans does not mean we have full control over what happens in our year. Most years will deliver surprises - good or bad - and we must learn to adapt accordingly. That can mean a delay, a change or a total derailment of plans.
Remember Who Your Vision Board Is For
Well, here’s some good news: if your visions are not coming to fruition as planned, it’s really okay. Your vision board was created for you by you and this mid-year check in is about progress, not judgement.
Mid-Year Vision Board Wins: What's Going Well?
Let’s start with the wins (you should too!):

Health
This was probably the thing I wanted to focus on most of all and I had a strong start. I’ve definitely made continuous and consistent progress which I’m pleased about. After last year's injury I'm back to my usual walking pace and distances and I'm actually quite proud of the changes I've made to my diet. It does feel like it’s time for another push though (maybe even some jogging...)
Learning
I’ve taken some steps here and I’m really enjoying learning, including signing up for a blogging membership, The Blogging Room, which has opened the doors to lots of learning opportunities.
Travel & Experiences
My time in London is so precious to me (London always features on my vision board) and I’ve managed a trip per season so far, with my next one all booked and eagerly anticipated.
My trip to Montenegro was a highlight of my board and my year, allowing me to experience a new country, language and culture as well as swimming in the sea for the first time in decades!
Finances: On the whole, things are moving in the right direction and so I think i just need to keep this aspect ticking over as we continue through the year.
✨Your Turn:
What’s working in your life right now?
What progress can you celebrate? (Remember you can celebrate progress even if there’s still work to do. Partial progress is still progress!)
How to Refocus Your Vision Board Goals Mid-Year
As I study my vision board and smile at the representations of the areas I’ve made progress in, it’s easy to pick out the areas I now need to devote my attention to.
Routine
This was one of my priorities when I was creating my vision board because I definitely function better when I have routine in my life. However, there have been external and family circumstances which mean that right now, in June, I’m still lacking - and craving - routine. It's something I think could make a positive difference for me so I will endeavour to find a way to make it work.
Relaxation
There’s definitely been some progress in this area but it certainly doesn’t come naturally so I have to really make an effort to prioritise time to rest and relax. Check back in with me at the end of the year and I think I’ll have made more progress with incorporating it into my life. (In the meantime, you can read an honest account of my attempts to slow down and relax in The Power of a Pause.)
Date Days
James and I used to have a monthly date day but this year life, responsibilities and logistics have really curtailed these. We've only managed one date day so far in 2025 but it was a brilliant day. We just need to aim for more of them!
Solo Travel
I’ve come very close to booking a solo trip for myself but something always stops me - sometimes for practical reasons, sometimes for ridiculous reasons! In all honesty, much as I crave a little solo break I’m also a bit nervous about it. Watch this space…
✨Vision Board Review Prompts
Look at your own goals or intentions.
What’s been neglected but still important to you?
What’s something you can recommit to - not out of guilt or obligation, but out of desire?
Is there anything in your original plan that doesn’t resonate with you so much now? Maybe it's best to let it go for now...
Feedback Not Failure
Here’s the thing: this isn’t failure - it’s feedback. A reminder of what still matters to me, and a chance to refocus moving forward. But it’s also an opportunity to feel good - a chance to reflect on your vision board and consider how it has added value to my life.
✨Want to Do Your Own Mid-Year Vision Check-In?
Here’s a really simple way to start:
Look at your goals or vision board. (No shame allowed.)
List what’s going well. Big or small, it counts.
Note what still matters—but needs attention.
Pick 1–2 areas to focus on next.
Set one action step you can take this week.
Final Thoughts
I’m walking away from this check-in feeling clearer and motivated to make the most of the second half of 2025. Progress isn’t always loud or obvious, but it adds up. Sometimes, just taking the time to pause and reassess makes all the difference. So much can change in the space of six months so I think it’s worth re-evaluating what you want to focus on.
Why not do your own check-in this week? Even 10 minutes can give you clarity on where you’ve been - and where you want to go next. Don't feel that you need to wait until January to create a vision board, any time is a great time to think about creating a life you love.
